About Make Texans Healthy Again
Make Texans Healthy Again (MTHA) is a grassroots movement committed to tackling the alarming rise in chronic diseases, poor nutrition, and preventable health challenges across Texas.
Founded on the belief that every Texan deserves the opportunity to live a healthy, vibrant life, MTHA educates policymakers and the public while advocating for state-level policies that prioritize personal freedom, preventative care, and holistic wellness.
— What will we do?
-
We plan to focus on educating legislators about the growing health crisis and the potential for impactful solutions. By providing research, data, and compelling personal testimonies, we aim to equip policymakers with the tools they need to make informed decisions. Our mission is to foster a deeper understanding of the importance of preventative care and holistic wellness in shaping Texas’ future while giving a voice to everyday Texans in the policymaking process.
-
As the legislative session progresses, we will closely follow key bills impacting healthcare, nutrition, and wellness in Texas. Our goal is to provide timely updates so supporters can stay informed on what’s happening in the legislative process. By knowing when and how to get involved, Texans can help drive meaningful policy change.
-
We plan to build strong relationships with legislators and key stakeholders through one-on-one meetings to ensure they understand the needs and priorities of Texans. Hosting an advocacy day at the Capitol will allow supporters to directly engage with lawmakers and share their stories. Additionally, we will testify for and against bills to champion policies that promote preventative care, holistic wellness, and personal health freedom.
A Personal
Commitment
For Travis McCormick, health isn’t just a policy issue—it’s personal. He’s seen the toll that chronic illness and a reactive healthcare system can take on individuals and families. His mother suffered a debilitating stroke at 49, leaving her with lifelong disabilities and frequent hospitalizations. Just a few years ago, his father’s life was cut short by a late-detected illness. On the road to parenthood, Travis and his wife tragically experienced multiple miscarriages, deepening his understanding of how health challenges can touch every stage of life. These experiences shaped Travis’s understanding of how much more could be done to prevent suffering and improve health outcomes for Texans.
Travis’s own health journey has also fueled his passion. In 2017, he lost 80 pounds by focusing on movement and cutting out processed foods. Over the years, he’s kept the weight off by continuing to make small, sustainable changes to his diet and lifestyle, proving that incremental improvements can lead to lasting results. He knows firsthand what’s possible when prevention and wellness are prioritized, and he wants every Texan to have the same opportunity to thrive.
That’s why Travis founded Make Texans Healthy Again: to advocate for a future where proactive care, better nutrition, and holistic health are the norm. Through this movement, he’s determined to help Texans live healthier, more vibrant lives—because he’s seen what happens when we don’t, and he knows how much better it can be when we do.
“I want every Texan to feel the clarity, energy, and joy that come with good health, this movement is about giving everyone that chance.”
